FROM YOUR CO-PRESIDENTS, KATIE AND DEBBIE

Dear NDWC Friends,

As we head into the holiday season, we’re filled with gratitude for all our members and the incredible energy you bring to NDWC! October was a busy and fulfilling month—from our Adopt a Highway clean-up to our inspiring wellness program at The Mather, where we learned about sophrology and how to manage stress before the holidays. Many thanks to Cam for organizing such a thoughtful and timely session.
At our November meeting, we’ll continue our focus on service by assembling Thanksgiving baskets for Second Story—a wonderful opportunity to support local families in need and one of our current beneficiaries. Thank you to everyone who has already signed up to contribute food items, and if you haven’t yet, please check the SignUp Genius below. We’ll also enjoy one of our favorite annual traditions: the Fall Cook-Off! Bring your best autumn-inspired dishes—think pumpkin spice, apples, and hearty root vegetables—and let’s celebrate the flavors of the season together.
Finally, a heartfelt thank-you to everyone who nominated an organization for this year’s charitable giving program. We’re so grateful to Jamie Teufel for chairing the Beneficiary Committee and to all who served or submitted nominations. The organizations we support reflect our club’s shared values and commitment to community service—one of the many reasons NDWC continues to thrive.
Wishing you all a joyful, gratitude-filled November!
With appreciation,
Debbie & Katie
Co-Presidents, NDWC

November Meeting with a
Service Project and Fall Food Cook-Off!!!

  November Monthly Meeting
Monday, November 17 @ 7:00
McLean Community Center

The holidays are coming - and that means FOOD! So this month we will be making food baskets for the people being served by Second Story. This project will help families in need during the Thanksgiving season. We will also be having our fall food cook-off! So bring your favorite fall-flavored dish to share.

RSVP by clicking here
and if you are bringing someone along, please include her name too.

We look forward to seeing you then!

Click here for the sign-up sheet for the food baskets we are making for Second Story. If you have a food donation and can't make it to our monthly meeting, you can call Heather (703-965-2255) to make arrangements for pick up or drop off. If you'd rather make a monetary donation, click here.

Fall means pumpkins and apples and other autumnal deliciousness. We will have our annual taste test of all treats with seasonal flavors, like pumpkins, apples and fall-inspired spices. Dishes which can be served bite-sized are the best.

If your headshot is from your college senior year or you need something a bit more professional, the November meeting will give you the opportunity to have a new photo taken.  Come camera ready. We have a photographer lined up to take a sharp looking picture for our directory (more on that below!) and any other purpose.

WHAT HAS NDWC BEEN UP TO?
A recap of our recent activities

We had a terrific Prospective Members' Meeting in October! Members and their guests heard from Ayce Ozerdem about stress reduction and self care -- and to learn more about NDWC. It was great to see new faces at our meeting. We hope you'll join us again! This lovely event was hosted by our Benefactor-level corporate sponsor, The Mather. Our special thanks go out to Rachel McLean of The Mather for her warmth and hospitality.

A crew of NDWC members picked up trash along Westmoreland Street in October. Our Adopt-A-Highway program helps to keep our community and neighborhoods cleaner. Monica led the team on this project.

NDWC visited the Falls Church-McLean Children's Center to read to the kids and distribute books from Reading is Fundamental of Northern Virginia (RIF-NOVA) for them to take home. Thanks to Alisa for organizing this event.

Our vineyard voyagers had a beautiful day visiting different wineries in Loudon County. Here's a gorgeous photo of Melissa and her friend at one of the stops. Look out for more social activities for NDWC members coming this spring.
