FROM YOUR CO-PRESIDENTS, KATIE AND DEBBIE

Dear NDWC Friends,
We were so disappointed we weren't able to gather for our March meeting due to the McLean Community Center closure because of inclement weather. That said, we were thrilled by the terrific collection of feminine products—thank you to everyone who contributed, and special thanks to Jane Bohlin for organizing this important effort.
We are looking forward to a wonderful April meeting to make up for it. We will be assembling Mother’s Day baskets for Second Story, one of our beneficiaries this year, and we’re excited NDWC member and national television correspondent, Amy Goodman, will be joining us to share skincare tips. Please be sure to sign up below for items for the baskets, and then bring them to the meeting or arrange to send them along with a fellow member if you’re unable to attend.
A big thank you to Marie Lee for organizing last month’s Stuff the Bus event at Giant, and to all of you who volunteered and donated so generously.
We have a full and fun schedule ahead as we round out the club year—Boogie for a Cause next weekend, Tap for Good in May at Casual Pint–Dunn Loring (thank you, Jenn Longmeyer-Wood), a special guest author at our May meeting arranged by Elizabeth Gore, and a spring celebration in June at Katie’s home. Be sure to mark your calendars—we look forward to seeing you soon!
With enthusiasm,
 Debbie & Katie
Co-Presidents, NDWC

ALSO IN APRIL - MAKE YOUR SKIN GLOW!

Ever wonder how to get the "glowing skin" trend? Curious about Korean skincare, but simply don't know where to start?

During our April meeting, NDWC member and national TV correspondent Amy E. Goodman, will be sharing the lowdown on Korean skincare rituals, how to use them, what to look for and how they've transformed her skin over the last two years.

She'll tackle a live demo on two volunteers selected at random AND give away a skincare kit valued at $100! Why not start your spring a-glow?

It's all happening at our April meeting.

ADOPT-A-HIGHWAY
 Service Project

Help our community by cleaning up the streets. New Dominion Women's Club has adopted a section of Westmoreland Street. Twice a year we pick up trash along that stretch. It's a great way to do community service, spend some time outside and meet some of your neighbors.

We need volunteers to join us. We bring the trash bags - you just need to bring yourself (and a pair of gloves).

Saturday, April 25
8:00 AM
Meet at Redeemer Lutheran Church
1545 Chain Bridge Road, McLean
On the corner of Chain Bridge Road and Westmoreland Street

The Casual Pint in Dunn Loring is having a special event - called Tap4Good - to benefit NDWC. During the month of May, a portion of all sales of the Casual Pint Lager will go to our Club. What a great (and fun!) way to support NDWC.

This program is in place for the whole month of May so check out trivia night, live music and other events or just come by for a pint and some dinner and toast our beneficiaries who will be helped by our fundraising efforts. Click here to see the whole calendar of events.

The Month of May
The Casual Pint- Dunn Loring
2676 Avenir Avenue, Vienna

More good news: The Casual Pint validates 3 hours of parking in the lot next to District Taco. And the nearby Metro parking is free on the weekends.

Special thanks to Jenn Longmeyer-Wood, the proprietor and part-time bar keep at the Pint as well as a long-time member of NDWC. Cheers to you, friend!

PICKLEBALL TOURNAMENT

Hope for Grieving Families is hosting a pickleball tournament as a fundraiser and all are welcome. The event is Saturday, April 25 from 2:00 to 5:00 at the Pickleball club in Tyson's. For more information or to register, click here.

WHAT HAS NDWC BEEN UP TO?
A recap of our recent activities

On March 23, NDWC teamed up with RIF Northern Virginia to distribute books at the Falls Church McLean Children's Center. A great success! Shout out to Alisa Schultz for leading the effort.

In March, we participated in a menstrual products drive which was spearheaded by Fairfax County. Thanks to everyone who donated to this effort and hat tip to Jane Bohlin for making this happen - and dropping off our donations. NDWC got a lovely thank you note from Jimmy Bierman, a member of the Board of Supervisors for Fairfax County.

Our Stuff the Bus event in March helped SHARE to restock its shelves. Sending out appreciation to Marie Lee for being our coordinator and leader for this important service event.

Arts Night Out was amazing! It was a great turn out and we raised more than $11,000 which will go to organizations which help our communities. This event is a lot of work so sending out appreciation to everyone who helped - and extra thanks to our Jane and Melissa who spearheaded this marvelous evening.

Our sold-out mahjong event was a great success. We had dozens of people at all skill levels join us for an afternoon of tiles, drinks, and socializing. AND we raised nearly $1,000! Thanks to Jennifer for getting the event set up and to Dorothy for her help as well.

We had a fantastic November meeting and spent time creating baskets for Second Story for Thanksgiving, clipping some nature photos for the Falls Church-McLean Children's Center and of course tasting some great food from our Fall Bake-Off.  Definitely a fun and productive night.  Plus we got our new t-shirts.

NDWC had a great turn-out for Rise Against Hunger, a service event focused on fighting hunger. Kudos to Katie Hanusik for spearheading this fun and rewarding effort. And check out the new t-shirts!

We had a terrific Prospective Members' Meeting in October! Members and their guests heard from Ayce Ozerdem about stress reduction and self care -- and to learn more about NDWC. It was great to see new faces at our meeting. We hope you'll join us again! This lovely event was hosted by our Benefactor-level corporate sponsor, The Mather. Our special thanks go out to Rachel McLean of The Mather for her warmth and hospitality.

A crew of NDWC members picked up trash along Westmoreland Street in October. Our Adopt-A-Highway program helps to keep our community and neighborhoods cleaner. Monica led the team on this project.

NDWC visited the Falls Church-McLean Children's Center to read to the kids and distribute books from Reading is Fundamental of Northern Virginia (RIF-NOVA) for them to take home. Thanks to Alisa for organizing this event.

Our vineyard voyagers had a beautiful day visiting different wineries in Loudon County. Here's a gorgeous photo of Melissa and Trish Kostelancik at one of the stops. Look out for more social activities for NDWC members coming this spring.
