FROM YOUR CO-PRESIDENTS, KATIE AND DEBBIE

Dear NDWC Friends,
Winter may have us bundled up, but we have some
serious excitement on the horizon to help thaw things out. Our calendar is packed with can’t-miss events—perfect reasons to get out, connect with friends, and support the causes that matter most to our club.
First up, this Saturday, February 7, we’re hosting our first-ever Mahjong fundraiser! This event is SOLD OUT. If you were able to get a spot, we look forward to seeing you there.
Then, on Tuesday, February 10, we’re thrilled to welcome you to the long-awaited Arts Night Out fundraiser. Come enjoy incredible art and photography while bidding in our silent auction, which features more than 30 items—from restaurant gift cards and jewelry to a sailing trip and unforgettable vacations.
And the fun doesn’t stop there. On March 21, we’re excited to host a special members-only outing to see the Tina Turner Musical at Capital One Hall. Tickets are going fast, with only a few left for this unforgettable night out. In our recent member survey, many of you asked for new and varied events—and we’re delighted to deliver. These “hot” events are just the beginning, and we hope they give you something fun to look forward to during the winter months.
We can’t wait to see you out and about—connecting, giving back, and enjoying all that NDWC has to offer.
With gratitude,

Debbie & Katie
Co-Presidents, NDWC

Our February program will feature Valerie Rippetoe, a Color Me Beautiful consultant and an expert in fashion and beauty. Valerie works with her customers to determine the clothing, make-up and hair colors to look their best. She works with people to streamline their wardrobes so they love everything in their closets and wear everything in their closets. You won't want to miss this great presentation.

HAVE A PROM DRESS OR FORMAL WEAR TO HELP LOCAL TEENS? Community service project

The Junior League of NOVA is having a prom and formal dress collection to help teens who could use some assistance in getting a dress. If you have any dresses to donate, please bring to the March 16 meeting and Carol Brunner will have a bin for collection. She is working with the organizers (and has gotten agreement from them to extend the deadline for donations).
Questions?  Email Carol or click here for the website.

MARCH MEETING PREVIEW

Picture
Put on your thinking cap!
Our March meeting will be a prospective members meeting so please start to think of a friend or new neighbor who might find the NDWC interesting and fun. Invite them to be your guest at the March 16 meeting!
We’re adding a little extra fun (Bunco!) at the meeting with a St. Patrick’s Day theme and will have festive door prizes! Potential members can meet everyone, see what we’re about, and experience the welcoming spirit of our club.
After they attend two events (the March meeting included), they will be eligible to join, and we prorate dues for the remainder of 2026. There's lots of activities still in store, so let's try and pump up our membership to 60 for the 2026/27 year ahead. The more hands, the more good we do for the community.

WHAT HAS NDWC BEEN UP TO?
A recap of our recent activities

We had a fantastic November meeting and spent time creating baskets for Second Story for Thanksgiving, clipping some nature photos for the Falls Church-McLean Children's Center and of course tasting some great food from our Fall Bake-Off.  Definitely a fun and productive night.  Plus we got our new t-shirts.

NDWC had a great turn-out for Rise Against Hunger, a service event focused on fighting hunger. Kudos to Katie Hanusik for spearheading this fun and rewarding effort. And check out the new t-shirts!

We had a terrific Prospective Members' Meeting in October! Members and their guests heard from Ayce Ozerdem about stress reduction and self care -- and to learn more about NDWC. It was great to see new faces at our meeting. We hope you'll join us again! This lovely event was hosted by our Benefactor-level corporate sponsor, The Mather. Our special thanks go out to Rachel McLean of The Mather for her warmth and hospitality.

A crew of NDWC members picked up trash along Westmoreland Street in October. Our Adopt-A-Highway program helps to keep our community and neighborhoods cleaner. Monica led the team on this project.

NDWC visited the Falls Church-McLean Children's Center to read to the kids and distribute books from Reading is Fundamental of Northern Virginia (RIF-NOVA) for them to take home. Thanks to Alisa for organizing this event.

Our vineyard voyagers had a beautiful day visiting different wineries in Loudon County. Here's a gorgeous photo of Melissa and Trish Kostelancik at one of the stops. Look out for more social activities for NDWC members coming this spring.
