November 16, 2017 McLean Project for the Arts Gallery Chain Bridge Road [next to Giant] McLean, VA 22101
The New Dominion Women’s Club hosted its annual “Arts Night Out,” a unique event that offers the combination of a social gathering featuring art and appetizers along with a silent auction at McLean Project for the Arts (MPA). The evening offered a special curated tour by Nancy Sausser, MPA Exhibitions Director, of MPA’s latest exhibition, "Nature as Prototype.
We're thrilled to be viewing "Nature as a Prototype". The MPA exhibition Nature as Prototype aims to examine the role of nature and biology as a source of inspiration for art and design. The artists included in this exhibition—Adam Nelson, Yoko K. and Grethe Wittrock—will collaborate to create an immersive environment that explores the changing nature of our relationship to the natural world. Continuing the conversation about how we choose to co-exist in what is described today as the Anthropocene, the exhibition will examine how art and design are fundamentally linked to scientific, biological, mathematical, philosophical, and social investigations.
The event raised money for non-profits including Friends of Pleasant Grove, McLean Project for the Arts, Safe Community Coalition, and SHARE, Inc.
