The New Dominion Women’s Club (NDWC) serves as a community partner with the McLean Project of the Arts (MPA) to sponsor and coordinate the Children’s ArtWalk as part of the annual MPAartfest. There are more than 100 budding artists featured in the open-air gallery walk that typically ranges from grades from pre-K thru middle school. Artwork includes a variety of art mediums such as hand rubbings, colorful wooden tile mosaics, a fish tank, prints, paintings, and murals. NDWC works hand-in-hand with community educators and MPA and provides volunteers to create and stage the exhibit. “The Children’s ArtWalk is spectacular. It’s a community-building event that brings people together. If you come to my office you will see some murals from past MPAartfest events that I have on display,” said John Foust, Drainesville District Supervisor.
MPA ArtFest Volunteer Opportunity - Oct. 1, 2023
Please see the message below from Joe Polito (husband of our very own Marianne Polito) regarding a volunteer opportunity for MPA ArtFest.
I hope this message finds you all in good health and cheerful anticipation. As you may be aware, the MPA Artfest, our McLean community Art Show in the Park, in beautiful McLean Central Park, will be on October 1, 2023, the first Sunday in October. As the returning chair for the Cart Drivers, I am recruiting new drivers, and have a simple question: Are you interested and available to drive golf carts for this year’s MPA Artfest? We will need most drivers on Sunday, October 1, and a few drivers on Saturday afternoon, September 30 to assist the folks setting up for the event. There is no schedule commitment required at this time, but I if you are interested, I will be add you to the SignUp Genius for Cart Drivers, and open up volunteer opportunities starting the beginning of September. If you know someone over the age of 18 who you think would be good driver for this event, please ask them to contact meand I will contact them directly. As you all know, this is a fun-filled annual event that serves the greater McLean community with great art and entertainment. The cart drivers are greatly appreciated for what we do to facilitate artists, performers, vendors, and visitors to get in and around the park. I look forward to hearing from you at your earliest opportunity, and look forward to working with this great team again this year. Thanks to all for everything you do to make this event so successful every year. Best regards, Joe Polito [email protected]
